NOT YOUR TYPICAL PERSONAL TRAINER!

Through years of trial & error with myself, friends, family, and clients, I have honed my methods to help clients reach their goals in a safe and timely manner. The way I structure an individualized training protocol for my clients is based upon the following key factors:

  • Current fitness level
  • Past/current  Injury/Disability (e.g. knee, back, and shoulder problems are very common)
  • Fitness & Bodyweight Goals

Early in my weight-training days, I had many injuries due to lack of knowledge, weak foundations, improper technique, and poor exercise choices. When I go into the gym, I often see trainers having their clients do exercises that have been shown time and time again to cause injury. Or they have someone performing advanced exercises while they clearly should be focusing on basic principles FIRST. There is no need to put unnecessary strain on your body! My injuries were sort of a blessing in disguise, because they forced me to take a step back and re-assess my training protocols. A properly structured training regimen should focus on balance, proprioception, flexibility, strength, and finally, power. Power is our ultimate goal, and you cannot have power without the others first. (Power is necessary for everyday tasks like picking up a box or moving a dresser... even getting out of bed requires power!)

 PLEASE NOTE: Personal training availability is based on your location. For example, if you live in another state, I cannot accompany you to the gym. In this case, we will proceed to building a workout routine based off your fitness goals and incorporating the equipment that is available to you (some clients live in an apartment complex with only a couple basic machines at their disposal... that's OK! You don’t need an entire gym to reach good health!) In this case, I will create a custom-tailored routine that you can follow, and together we can tweak it based on progress.
